Our visit to the Olympic Peninsula and Olympic National Park coincided with the peak of wildflower season at Hurricane Ridge, so I have devoted a slide show just to the wildflowers.  In case you're wondering, the height of the wildflower bloom the year we were there (2008), was the week just after the 4th of July.

The scenery is also very dramatic--the Olympic Mountains are majestic in their snow-clad presence.   A road leads to Hurricane Ridge, where hiking trails then continue to higher elevations and offer sweeping vistas of the mountains and valleys.  In this part of the peninsula, we also visited Lake Crescent and hiked to Marymere Falls. We enjoyed the lovely, quaint towns along the coast, too--Port Townsend, Sequim and Port Angeles.
